Craziness continued

(I wrote this in an email to a friend and was lazy and just copied and pasted it.)

In a strange twist of events (and an answer to prayer even before we knew we needed it) K is at home for a month. His "old" work told him on August 26 that it was his last day and he packed up and they walked him out to his car. He had given his 2 week notice on August 25. But since he's going to work for another CPA firm, they thought it would be best that he wasn't there anymore. It was really strange to us, but it turned out to be wonderful. He is still getting paid like he is working there until September 11 (the date that they had agreed on when he gave his 2 week notice). Now he is around to help pack and feed/watch kids.

What a blessing! He ended up taking his first 2 days off to get paper work together for our new house and setting up everything for our first open house on August 30th. I don't know how he would have gotten all that stuff done if he had been working.

Slowly we've been packing things and tossing things. We also found a bunch of stuff to sell on a garage sale. My parents were here last weekend and my family has a garage sale in a couple weeks so I sent junk with them to sell on the garage sale. Well, junk to us anyway.

In other news, I'm going to start using the boys' middle names for their names in this blog. A friend suggested that as an easier way to keep track of who I'm talking about! Thanks, friend! It will be easier for me, too! Michael has started smiling quite a bit. Especially right after he eats. Samuel isn't smiling yet, but hopefully soon. They are both getting very big. But Samuel definitely is the big boy. Emma loves, loves her brothers and is getting quite comfortable with them. Which means I need to keep a closer eye on her as she loves to get in their face and touch and "play with" them.

Well, it sounds like Michael has finally gone to sleep. Time for Mommy to go to sleep, too!

We are officially crazy

After this past "tax season" (January 1st - April 15th) I/we decided that I/we didn't want to deal with K working 60 hour weeks with me being at home with 3 kids. K is a CPA... So K started looking for private accounting jobs where he'd work 40 hour weeks all the time. He/we also decided to look in Nebraska (where we are now) or Iowa (where most of our families are). It soon became clear that, for the jobs he was interested in, he would need a) more experience or b) bigger tax firm experience. His brother has a friend that is a tax partner at a firm in Iowa and K talked with him earlier this month. K had an official interview last week and got a job offer today. So...we are moving back to Iowa! He will still be doing public accounting, but will be working less than 60 hours during "tax season".

I have a feeling this next month will be super crazy. In addition to keeping 3 kids happy, clean and fed, we'll need to get the house ready to sell and pack up ALL our stuff. Oh and we put in an offer on a house tonight, so we'll see what the sellers say...

I am really sad to leave our church and good friends here. Emma will miss her friend, N, and we will miss her parents! It has been a great place to live. I feel like we're finally getting to know a lot of people here. And we love our house (which we had built). We are excited to move closer to family and Emma/Micah/Nathan's cousins, though, too. So at the same time, I'm excited and sad and overwhelmed. It could be a crazy week!

Finally....the ultrasound

We finally made it to ultrasound day. And found out there are two babies in there. Twins! Wow! That's exciting! And it explains why I've been not feeling so well already... They are fraternal twins, not identical.

The twins were measuring 5 days apart, which could be normal, but they'll probably want to keep an eye on that. But both heartbeats were good and everything else looked good, as far as I could tell. Now I will go take a nap!

Good news!

I am pregnant. I went in for a blood test this morning and my HCG was at 754. This seems pretty high to us. When I went in for my blood test with Emma, it was a day (in the cycle) earlier and my HCG level was at 256. So now we wait for three weeks to do the ultrasound to find out how many babies are in there. We only put 2 embryos in....

My due date should be around July 25. We will have to see how big the baby(ies) are measuring at the ultrasound and that should give us a better idea of due date.

I am feeling just fine. I do feel tired but that's probably because I've been napping way too much lately!!!

Here we go

I wasn't clear on my post yesterday but the transfer was this morning. It went well. Now I will take a nap. : )

Gone

We are in Kansas City tonight. We being K and me. Emma is at home with my parents. We just called her and she was more interested in her crackers than talking to us. *sigh* I guess it's a good thing that she isn't horribly upset that we're gone.

We are on the way to St. Louis. We will be doing a frozen blastocyst transfer (IVF) on Wednesday...in other words, we are trying to have another baby. Emma was one of two embryos that were transferred in April, 2006. Anyway, if you think of it, please keep us in your prayers as we are so not in control of whatever happens. Having a baby is a miracle not to be taken for granted.

We ate at a great barbecue restaurant tonight. Jack Stack Barbecue. The Freight House one. It was so good and they were super fast with our food. It was wonderful. If you're ever in the area, you should try it!

Kleenex in my dryer

I don't check the pockets of our clothing before throwing them in the wash. And K has allergies. Lots of allergies...we just don't know what he's allergic too. But isn't the point of a washing machine to get the laundry done as quickly as possible while doing as little work as possible. So in the clothes (and whatever is in the pockets) go.

I read about cleaning and disinfecting your washer in a post on the last Works for Me Wednesday. Let's just say I didn't even know I was supposed to be cleaning and disinfecting my washer. I have yet to try this, but at least it's been saved on my computer along with how to super clean my shower! Baby steps.

What's in a Name?

The reasoning behind "3cookieday" is pretty straightforward. Growing up, K was only allowed to have 3 cookies per day. So now he eats at least 4 cookies whenever he gets cookies. What a rebel! I should probably also mention here that K is very skinny so he can afford to eat lots of cookies.

I also figured no one else would have taken that name and I was right. It was available. There is also the fact that some days I feel the need to eat cookies (with chocolate) so it is a 3 cookie day!! Do you ever have those days?!

Okay, I'm in...

I've decided to try blogging. It's a scary adventure for me, but I've seen so many other great blogs that I decided to take the plunge. Wow, I feel so sophisticated now. I'm trying out Blogger for a little while so give me a little while to figure out how everything works. Until next time,
