Our Love Story - part 2

The beginning is here.

K and I started hanging out quite a bit. Our first official date was to Homecoming. We went out to eat and to the dance with another couple. I found out later that K does not like to dance. At all.

We also sometimes went rollerblading around town. K is a more experienced rollerblader than me. He actually bought me some new rollerblades because the ones I had were used and the wheels were worn down on one side. Well, these new rollerblades went f-a-s-t. Faster than I was used to. And I didn't know how to stop. K and I were rollerblading down a slight, long hill. I was holding on to K (because I didn't know how to stop). However, I didn't trust that he could stop both of us, so I tried to stop myself. And ended up stopping myself with my knees. And no, I didn't have any knee pads on. K went and got my car and picked me up. I don't rollerblade anymore. Well, once I did in K's parents hometown (which is pretty hilly) and ended up stopping by doing a spread eagle on someone's front lawn.

Where was I? Oh yeah, love story. I have to share a little bit from when I met K's parents. I remember that K, myself, K's brother and his girlfriend (now wife) were waiting in the cafeteria for K's parents. It must have been parent's weekend at college. And I must have looked super nervous because I remember my (now) sister-in-law asking if I was all right. I would love to go back and see what I was like that day. And it went fine. I think. I don't remember much else.

Our college symphonic band (which we were both in) went to California for a band trip over spring break. We flew there and then rented a charter bus and took that around California and down to the Grand Canyon. The thing that sticks out to me from that trip was discussing marriage with K. Keep in mind this was only 7 months after we had met. I don't remember exactly what we talked about, but it must have been good!

Good to know that we weren't the only ones talking marriage that early... I think we were discussing it after officially dating for 3 months. :D

Was that within the "October Rule" that year?

I remember playing volleyball lots with you guys.

I think we were as nervous as you, Julie, at that first meeting. K had hardly even looked at girls, so we knew this was serious! But, we've loved you ever since!
