Calling all parents...

We have a whining problem at our house. No, it's not me. She even knows when she's being whiny. I just don't know how to make it stop. Any brilliant ideas? She is going to be 2 in January. I suppose that might have something to do with it? Or maybe the fact that she usually gets her way around here. Yes, that's probably it. But seriously, how do you stop the whining? Should I ignore it? I usually have her ask me "nicely". In other words, saying please. I should also mention that for the most part, she's a lot of fun at this age. I love that she's talking quite a bit and I can usually understand her. She really is a good girl and I love her dearly!

Since I haven't posted a picture for a while, here is Emma feeding her "baby". Her babies, blankets and bottles are her favorite toys.

You might also try making her smile when she says something. It's impossible (nearly) to whine and smile at the same time. Good luck! Mine's almost 3, and we're not past it yet!

Not sure what sort of whining you are talking about. We have a problem around here with a sort of fussing/whining in the late afternoon while I'm making dinner. In general, I remind him that he needs to ask with a happy voice, or a big boy voice or something. Usually it's asking for me to pick him up. Hope you find something to work. :)

Too funny. Ah yes, the proverbial whining...something we have to deal with everyday! Honestly, I can say, there isn't a special trick...now didn't that make you feel better!?! Just have her keep repeating herself without whining before you respond and she'll get enough practice at it! You'll do just fine, dear!

I asked my sis because I'm not dealing with whining just yet here. She said that when she hears the whining, she simply asks them, "Mommy cannot understand you. Can you please tell me what you want in your big girl words?" Either that or she tells them that she will be ready to listen when they are ready to use their words to tell her. And of course, they are 6 now, and since school has started, the whining has returned.
